Getting there
By air: The Aéroport de Bordeaux Mérignac is the city’s closest international airport. It’s located in Mérignac, a suburb about 8 kilometres from the city centre. To get to the city from the airport, take the express bus which runs every 45 minutes.
By train: Bordeaux’s main train station is the Gare St-Jean. Located close to the city centre, it caters to around 4 million passengers annually. The TGV, France’s high speed train network, serves this station and connects Bordeaux with various French and European cities. Many regional train routes also stop here.
By bus: The main bus station in the city is located by Gare St-John. Here, Eurolines bus services connect the city to many destinations in Europe.
Getting around
Bordeaux’s public transport system, operated by Connex, is called the Tram at Bus de La CUB or TBC. It consists of various modes of transport, including tram, bus, and boat services.
By bus: 75 different bus routes operate throughout the city. There are also 12 night bus routes and in the city centre, you’ll find an electric bus shuttle.
By tram: There are three tram lines running across Bordeaux.
On foot: As many of the downtown streets are pedestrianised, it is possible to walk around and see many of the main places of interest. However, Bordeaux is a large city so chances are you will have to use public transport at some stage.
